Re: May Morris Nee: Davies

smtr, shera,
Thank you both so much, shera I thought that john's last name was morris as my grandmothers marriage cert is May Morris and John's name was john william richard Morris as father on the cert. but everything you have said about john william and wife frances and the names of all the children are right there were john william richard who is buried in the uplands their son who was may's brother and on the headstone it has morris as family name. there is charlotte, ada, christiana constance and May my grandmother so all the names of the people that you have said are right ,so then thought were the children in frances maiden name but if is cox alittle confused. My Mom has just said that she thinks there is a cox conection to our family but not sure where and if frances cox is the frances that is my great grandmother need to work out?:)

Re: May Morris Nee: Davies

The area where stoney lane is where the family all lived which is by the uplands and mansion cresent and welshpool is where my mom said the family came from to.

Re: May Morris Nee: Davies

liz i dont understand it as the marriage is to morris but on the 1911 it is definitely davis and he has signed his own name at the bottom as davis!
very strange.

Re: May Morris Nee: Davies

Hi Shera, yes it is really strange!:dft005: I've been to the smethwick libary today to go through the archives for my g grandfather found that he was buried at the old church smethwick John William Richard Morris on the 11 nov 1931 he died at the genral hospital birmingham and had been living at 14 middlemore road smethwick when he died , then found out that Frances Morris was also buried at the old church april 29th 1939 and she was living at 14 middlemore road at the time she died. so looks like I'll be going to cem tomorrow:)

Re: May Morris Nee: Davies

Hi Suzanne you were right it has been a nightmare trying to work out who was morris / Davis or cox but it does seem that Francis is a Cox and was married to John William Richard morris on everything other than the Census he seems to be a Davis on the census's and not sure if there's a step family around still looking into it so a big thank you.:)

Re: May Morris Nee: Davies

It has been a long time since these threads were written, but I can explain the Morris/Davis name changes if you are still wondering. I believe I am John William Richard Morris/Davis' great neice. The previous threads all fit into place with the information I already have. I would really love to exchange information.

Hello

I hope I haven't left this too late as I noticed the last entry is 2011

My Name is Andrew Purcell, My Grand father, John, Son of Joseph and Eliza, was Christiana Morris's Husband, I know they lived in Middlemore Road,
They had 4 Children My Father, John known as Jack, He passed away in 1984, Hubert, who passed away recently, and Dorothy and Christine who are still alive.
Despite the rumour, It looks like the Purcell name isn't Irish, It could be a mis spell of Pursall or Pearsall, I have followed both lines back to 1841.
So if you would like to get in touch please do, I would like to know more about the Gadd line (I saw a photo on the wall of Lyndon 4 at Sandwell Hospital, Is that you?) and other descendants From My Grandfathers brothers and Sisters,

Yours
Andrew Purcell
