While in Eastside, I left Curzon Street, and briefly ended up around Curzon Circle (before going back into Eastside down Belmont Row).

Opposite I saw a pub called Moriarty's. I believe the nearby area is Vauxhall (Vauxhall Road is around the corner).

On Google Street Maps it is here Moriarty's

Can't find it on Google Search - although a pub called The White Tower is coming up.

Ellbrown you,re covering my patch a treat the White Tower on the corner of Vauxhall Rd and Lawley St. Professional Music Technology was formally J.Saville Gordons building after they moved from A.B. Row. Dek

I saw it from Curzon Street, so I went for a closer look.

Any idea why it is now called Moriarty's?

I don't know this area very well (I'm more used to South Birmingham than the North areas).

No idea why it was called Moriarty,s I seem to remember it had an Irish name after the White Tower I left the area in 1967 but still travel that way. Dek

Hi first post :-)
this was always called the white tower, Moriartys refers to Tom Moriarty who was the last landlord of the gate at saltly, he moved there when they knocked it down, if my memory serves me right.

Hi old boy ;
you ar quite correct ; we used to go after hours and spend the night locked in after hours
great memories alot of our irish friends back in brum used the shaftmoor now; still doing thje afters ;
but because we are in worcestershire i will not drink and drive and the taxi would be most certainly off the agenda

Hi Dek, just reading through this thread and notice you mention J.Saville Gordons. The building was next to the Professional Music Store but was demolished in 1989 when Lawley Street was widened to dual carriageway. The company next to the music store was GS Bloor a plastics firm and then Saville Gordons which had the open car park next to it which was accessed from Lawford Close. Saville Gordon's moved to Sherlock Street in January 1989. I worked at JSG from 1983 -1990.
Regards
Rob.
