mill band maker?

A mill band worker may have been something to do with leatherwork or saddle making.

They have records of the Union of Saddlers, Harness makers, Collar Makers and Bridle Cutters, Mill Band makers and Leather Workers in Saddlery . Document reference M.S.S. 523, 2 volumes with dates 1891 to 1909. If you send them an e-mail they may be able to answer your questions about the trade or can maybe give you an additional lead to further information .
