Midland Red Depot - Bull Ring Centre

Hi - I was walking down Dudley Street the other day and passed the old Midland Red Garage. It looks as if it's been incorporated into the new Debenham's building.

I remeber how the enclosed bus depot used to fill up with diesel exhaust fumes :sour: and how you could go through into the covered market underneath the Bull Ring Centre. Surely wouldn't be allowed these days!

Has anyone got any images of the garage (interior or exterior)?

Cheers

Those pictures bring back memories - used to come up from Northampton on the coach - so much cheaper, then leg it to the depot to get the 116 home. It was a bit scary at night, especially when the down and outs were arriving, trying to sneak into the bottom corner unnoticed, and you could almost guarantee the bus would be late!! Even worse were the steps from just outsie the depot up to the Pallasades and New Street station.
Thanks Ragga and Lloyd for the pics and Speedy for starting the thread.

Oh the memories. I seemed to spend a lot of time in there meeting girls, taking them to the Silver Blades Ice Rink, droping them off there again. Then racing across to Dale End to get my bus.
:rapture:

The old bus depot brings back memories seeing the 144 and catching the last bus home from the Silver Blades and running like mad when we got off the bus at the Marlbrook to get home. Going shopping through the doors up the escalators looking at all the shops and listening to all the sounds and half the time went home with a pound of apples to much choice I suppose. Thanks for the memories.
