Hi Forum

Just signed up, I am trying to get info of the above name , in trades directories newspaper adverts in birmingham 1881 to 1920, he was of german birth and was listed as a hardware man ,importer,in censuses , and one i found as a patents agent all in central birmingham.

He was at some time forced or told leave before or /during or after the 1914-18 war, i have letters from GOVT offices headed " trading with the enemy" and payment of property seized by them.

How and where can i get this info , is the central library still open? , or can i access it on the net.

thanking you

Gary Hodge

He was still in Birmingham for the 1915 directory:
Metz. Paul, hardware & willow box manufacturer& druggists sundriesman, 215 Newhall St
However by 1921 he had gone.
I’m not quite clear what you do have and what you want. Could you expand a little on exactly what you are looking for ?
The central library is still open.
Mike
