It's surprising this view is still recognisable today. Even the ghost signs remain. The ghost signs in the images below have been discussed on the Ghost Signs and Walford Road threads but they're relevant here so I've copied posts to this thread too. The Pearl sign isn't doing too well now very faded, but the Twinings one looks good probably because it was covered up until c2012.

These two shops historically demonstrate the essential services provided in the past to the local community around Walford Road. The Twinings shop was once a chemists, the Pearl shop was once a grocery store.
