Medal Card

Hi all

Can anyone tell me what 'SWB list M/1561' means on a war medal card?

Thank you.

Suzanne

Edit: I have just found it means silver war badge - found it on the long long trail.

Quite right - and the M/1561 refers to his entry in a roll. Translating the code into the National Archives piece number, you need document WO329/3132, page 1561.

Chris

Thanks for that. Would the document tell me any thing different than the Medal Card?

Suzanne

SWB rolls usually give
> date of enlistment
> date of discharge
> unit discharged from
> cause of discharge
> age at discharge
> whether served overseas
> unique number of badge

So yes, quite a bit more.

Thanks Chris.

That would be great if I can get that info as his service records (if they weren't destroyed in world war 2) aren't on Ancestry yet as I am waiting for surnames beginning R.

regards

Suzanne
