I am looking for my Grandfather Born 1889 as Thomas Edward Mackness became known as Edward Donald McNess live in Aston about 1913 served in 42 Field Ambulance RAMC through the 1914-18 War. Was married in 1914 to Florence Pearson. Had 4 children Edward , Irene, Lily and Raymond. Later lived in Pitmaston Road Hall Green until his death in 1951. I would like to know about where he worked as a maker of canvas covers for railway wagons.

Re: Surname McNess or Mackness

I am not clear if you know where he lived in aston. According to the electoral rolls he was at 19 Dow St (listed as McNess) from 1918-1930. In 1935 he is at 122 Pitmaston road. doe st was next to Curzon St station, so he might have worked for the railway at curzon St.
