McKecknie Bothers

Anyone around who had any connection with McKecknies, Brass Founders, in Icknield Port Road. I worked in the laboratory there from 1945 until 1949 when called up for National Service. Certainly no health and Safety measures in place then. Used to dissolve brass drilling samples in nitric acid and then put them on Hot plate and all the red fumes sent out into the atmosphere by the extractor fans (until a strong wind blew it back down again).

I remember McKecknies as one of the companies that my dad played football against in Birmingham Works League at the time you were working there.
Come the 1960's I was at Wilmot Breeden polluting the atmosphere analysing samples of in coming metals.
