McClures of Killinchy Co Down and New Zealand

I have been trying to find out information relating to the parents and siblings of David McClure who died 19.06.1890. I also cannot find his dob. He married ? 16.11.1832 a Jane Craig and arrived in Lyttleton NZ on 7.01.1862. He had 4 or more children including William c 1834, George 14.08.1838, Hans Lamont c 1843 and Sarah c 1851. I know a lot about George as he was my great grandfather but nothing about all the others. Cannot find them on the census etc. I would be grateful for any help.

Sorry Judith, did you mean you can't find them on the British census.
Do they have a connection to Birmingham ?

Sorry but I cannot find them on any census and I believe there was a Birmingham connection but have no other information.

Hi Judith
On the "Mystery" Emigrant Ship passenger list 1861 David McClure states he and his wife are both aged 39 so he would be age 10 if he married in 1832 so it may be advisable to recheck your record sources to validate your information. County Down covers a large area much of it farming country and there is also a strong connection with Presbyterians in Ireland and the Scottish.

The emigrant ship left London in Oct 1861 and the couple had just one child with them Sarah age 10 , and Hanse or Clause age 17 who may not be their son but member of another branch of the family. This is an unusual name for Ireland and may be worth following up.

Thank you Louise. I am sure he gave the wrong age. I believe they married young. I believe Hans was born in 1833/34.
