Maybe birmingham could copy Salford

Seems to be greeted with mixed reaction Mike. Hadn't realised there was a part of Lottery Funds allocated to pub history (well I take it that the 'All Out Stories Heritage Lottery Fund' is for that purpose, given the title). I'd be in favour of proper recording of their past, whether the pub is long gone or in fact still standing, as pubs can be a focus of so much history in a community. But obviously it won't go down well with all sections of the community. An interesting one for debate I think, especally after a pint or two! Viv.

Good topic mikejee,,, and I,m in agreeance with Vivienne about the historical importance of "Pubs" as meeting places/peoples as
communities develop and change, the social history aspects are important and should be recorded using Lottery funding in B,ham too.
Considering some of the "projects" that Lottery funding is currently used for,,,then this suggestion is a worthwhile possibility.

T V programmes such as Coronation St & Eastenders focus the cultural meeting around two "Pubs", thereby proving above points,

The brilliant historian Michael Woods has been promoting something very similar,I'm not sure how it would work in Brum with the drastic changes in culture here.
