Looking to try and trace the other half of the Matthews' family.

My great grandparents were George Matthews and Alice Matthews (shop keeper) DOB circa 1882

They had two sons, Fred (1907), my grandad and his brother George (1902)

Fred married Nelly Costello/Castello and they had two sons

Fred and Derek my late father.

I have not been able to trace George's side of the family and it would nice to add some info to the family tree.

It would also be good to hear from anyone who remembers my dad.

Gay Lloyd, was Matthews

i dont know if this will help but george was married to alice groves in 1902 aston. it may be an idea to buy this cert to find out who georges father was and occupation.

in 1901 alice was living with her parents in birmingham

william groves 67 gun action filer
sarah groves 66 charwoman
alice groves 17 stud press worker
thomas groves 25 brass caster

all born in bham.

My Grandparents May and William Harris lived at 4/9 Colman Street,Nechells, my grandmothers sister was Amy and she married a Matthews, but unfortunately he died well before I was born in 1949. I lived in Lupin Street, just down the road. Not sure if this helps.
