If you are talking about the Carnford Road off Church Road Sheldon then I remember someone discussing a coal merchant at the Coventry Road end of Horse Shoes Lane on the forum some time back. Thats only a hop, skip and a jump from Carnford Road, would this be the one you are looking for?

Just in case this is the coal merchant you are looking for I looked up the name, it's Shepherd York & Co.
