Marsh Kenneth James looking for family

Carmel

Brummie babby
Hello,

My friend Andrew is trying to find his family in England and Canada. Andrew was born in Canada to and English father and and Australian other. When he was one year old his parents split up and she moved back to Australia and has lost touch with his father and his half brother. Here is a link to his story and his search https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBRYzRlbJOo which will explain it better than me.

Andrew's father Kenneth James Marsh was born April 17, 1931. His grandparents Walter and Louisa Marsh lived at 289 Deakins Road, So Ken may have gone to Yardley Wood Boys. I see that you went there at around the time he would have gone to school. Do you know him? And if so are there any siblings?. I was wondering if you would know anything about the family? If we can find who lives there now they might know of Aunts and uncles who could then help Andrew find his dad and brother! I am wondering if you would have any knowledge of Ken attending the school and if so if he had siblings or even other family that we might be able to find and contact.

Thanks in advance for your time and consideration in this matter...

Cheers

Re: Wartime Yardley

Carmel,
Do you know where Andrews father was born or am I missing something in this request. His Grandfather could have gone to one of two school in this area. You mentioned Yardley Wood boys school so you must have a slight connection with that area as it a long way from Deakins rd Yardley.

Re: Wartime Yardley

I'm not sure exactly where Ken was born, but on his birth certificate his parents were living at 289 Deakin's Road, Birmingham. I have no information on the Grandparents besides that their names were Walter Thomas and Louisa (nee Plummer) and that Walter listed his profession as a knife polisher. There is also info that suggests Walter was born in 1900 and passed away in 1971 but that is not confirmed. I have no idea how far Yardley Boys was from Deakins Road because I live in Australia so I was just sorta trying to figure it all out online. And with not much information! What school would you think he would have gone to? I contacted all sorts of primary and highschools but have only heard replies from two and they have no record of Ken James Marsh.

Re: Wartime Yardley

Well Andrew knew that they lived for sometime in Georgetown, Ontario, but then possibly moved to Toronto. His father may have moved to Guatemala. He's chased up and run several Marsh's but to no avail. I also immediately went to the white pages! but no luck so far... :)

Re: Wartime Yardley

I think I may have posted my response to this below... sorry I'm new at this and keep stuffing it up and it won't let me repost here! lol

Also I believe Walter Thomas Marsh was born June 9 1900 and his death was registered between April and June 1971.

The surname of Louisa is Plimmer.
The birth of Kenneth James Marsh gives mother Plimmer.

Now it gets interesting.

Louisa Plimmer married Walter Thomas Marsh Suett in 1924 and they had a son
Thomas W Marsh-Suett was registered June 1924 Birmingham

They must have decided to drop the Suett after this.

1901 Great Hampton street Birmingham

Frederick M Suett age 39 Cycle manufacturer b Coventry
Susannah age 41
William J age 10
Sarah 9
Frederick J 7
Alfred 3
George 2
Walter T age 9 months registered July/Aug /Sept qtr 1900.

In 1911 at same address Frederick Marsh Suett is a widower.

I will IM you with more up to date info.

Thanks for the messages Carmel.
I see from them that you have now seen that Walter Thomas Marsh Suett age 9 months was your Kenneths father.
Thrilled to read in your IM that from the info I sent via message that you may have got contact number of family member.

Your information has been incredibly helpful! Andrew connected at the same time with Fiona, Ian's second wife. They have no contact with Ken or Greg but at least Andrew now knows so much more about his family. You have been so very kind and helpful and Andrew is so thankful! Cheers Carmel
