Marriage look up please

Hello Carol,
A time span would be useful for anyone doing a search for you. Have you looked on the FreeBMD for this couple ??

Margaret.

Sorry i am daft i forgot to put the date,1887 i am looking for the name of
John Cox`s Father.
Thankyou
Carol

I think that your John Cox could be the one living at 3 Macdonald Street, Birmingham on the 1881 census with his parents and siblings;

William Cox 40 Cane pipe maker
Caroline " 39
Caroline " Daut 19 Nail cutter
William " Son 18 Fender Caster
JOHN " Son 14 " "
Frederick " " 11 Scholar
Rose " Daut 6 "

____________________________________________________________-

On the 1901 census John and Isabella have children, their first born being Frederick. John's occupation is shown as a Malleble Iron Caster.

________________________________________________________________

John's baptism is shown on the IGI at the Holy Trinity church Bordesley, 30 January 1867. Father, William, Mother, Caroline.

_________________________________________________________

Of course this is guess work, but the pieces seem to fit.

Hello Steve,
Thankyou i think William and Caroline are the parents,i think i will have to
send for marriage certificate to make sure.
I appreciate you using your time to look for me i am very grateful.
Thankyou
Carol

Hi Carol

Yes, i think that you'll have to purchase the certificate to make sure. Unfortunately the marriage is listed as registered as Birmingham which involves the possibility of it being any one of a number of churches and on the odd occasion it could involve the register office!

Just taking things a little further the 1901 census sees John and Isabell living in Lennox Street and William And Caroline living very close by in Frankfort street in the Lozells/Hockley area.

The IGI shows a marriage for William Cox and Caroline Smith at St.Philips on the 9 October 1859. There are also a number of christenings at the Holy Trinity church Bordesley for their children including John in 1867.

If you like i could get you a copy of William and Caroline's marriage cert as i will be going to the Birmingham reference library early in the forthcoming week?

Steve

Hi Carol

I'm sorry but i am not able to get to the library this week. However i will be there during next week so i'll have a look then.

Have you decided to order John's marriage certificate?

Regards

Steve

Hi Carol.

I made it to the library to-day and have got a "poor" copy of the marriage certificate for WILLIAM COX, a 20 year old bachelor, and a sword mounter living at Moor Street, and Caroline Smith a 19 year old spinster living at the same address. William's Father was John Cox-a hairdresser. Caroline's Father was Edward Smith-a labourer. Both William and Caroline made their mark x, as did Sarah Ann Smith-witness. anothe witness was Samuel Brittain who signed the register. The marriage took place on the 9th Oct 1859 at St.Philip's.

If you I M me with your e mail address i'll send a copy of the certificate to you, but it is a poor copy.

Regards

Steve
