Hello
Could anyone kindly provide information on marriage of George Butts and Hannah Rew at St Martins 12 April 1825

Mnay thanks
Steve

Steve, the early records unfortunatly don't hold a lot of information. I can only tell you George was a batchelor and Hannah a spinster the witnesses were Edward and Sarah Priest all signed with an x. I hope this is of some help. Wendy

Moma P,

Many thanks for your efforts; I was hoping for fathers as I believe when Hannah died he went on to marry her sister Mary but I need something to confirm this.

Thanks anyway

Steve

Moma P,
Out of curiosity I checked the details of the witnesses you kindly provided and found that Edward Priest would have been a virtually life long neighbour of George Butts on Lordswood Road, Harbourne; They both lived beyond their 80's and shared the same profession of Agricultural Labourers.
So, although it has not furthered my research it does help to paint the picture doesn't it.

Thanks again,
Steve

I am so pleased at least something was of use. I have looked for a burial for Hannah Butts without any luck do you have a rough date for her death or a date for the marriage to Mary. I will have a look when I get home from work.

George Butts married Mary Rew on 24 December 1834 at St Phillips.

I would imagine therefore that Hannah died about 1833. I believe they are buried at St Peters, Harborne. I found a listing of monumental inscriptions there that fits. I have had a look around but it is a much bigger cemetery than you first think.

Any information would be fantastic

Steve
