Is anyone out there researching the Parkes family and might you have Maria Parkes born about 1812 on your tree?
Maria was my 2 x gt.grandmother and I know almost nothing about her. She married my 2 x gt.grandfather, George Hanson at St Bartholomews in Edgbaston in October 1838, and had two sons. At the time of her marriage she was living in Swallow Street, but no father's name is given in the register, so she may have been illegitimate. She died 4 months after the birth of my gt.grandfather, Samuel, in February 1841 at 25 Court, Gt. Russell Street, Hockley, aged 29.
I wonder why they married in Edgbaston, as both their sons were baptised in St Martins. Can anyone think of a reason?
