Hi

One of my ancestors, Charles MANTELL b. 30 April 1820 Hopton Wafers SAL, opened a chemists shop at No. 21 from the early 1850s and it stayed until the 1920s. He married Priscilla Bennett 4 July 1854 and they had a son, also Charles in 1858. He also became a chemist. He married Annie and they had 3 children, Priscilla b. 1881, Charles C. b. 1890 and Charles W. F. b. 1897.
If this rings a bell with anyone I'd love to hear from you.

Bernard

Mantell Family

My fathers sister Minnie Briggs married Archibald Mantell in 1915 in Foleshill, Coventry.
They had a daughter Joyce born in 1916 but I have had no luck in tracing her.
There is quite a lot of history about the Mantells but wether they are your family is another matter.
All the best John

Re: Mantell Family

My Girlfriend Pauline Newman is the daughter of Joyce Mantell born 1916

Joyce died a couple of years ago and lived in Solihull. She was married to a Mr Kiefert who died many years ago.

If this the correct Mantell family then Joyces father was a cricket coach originally from Cornwall.

Pauline has often talked about the Coventry and Hall Green connections and various families named Briggs, Mantell, Savage and Kiefert

Hello I am so excited to hear from you.
I have been researching the Mantell family for years now trying to find decendants of Joyce Mantell.
Joyce's parents were Minnie Briggs and Archibald Mantell.
Minnie was my fathers sister and so my aunty.
On the 1911 Census it states Archibald's profession as Professional Cricketeer but I have never found out where.
At the time he was living in Southampton.
I am so pleased you found my thread and disappointed I never got to speak to Joyce.
So I wonder if you have any family phtographs.
My father Minnie's brother married his first wife in 1912 in Solihull. His first wife died in 1947 and he remarried in 1948 and I am
a product of this marriage. My father was almost 60 when I was born.
Hope you are all well I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards John Briggs
