Looking for any info on this pub please, around 1890's. I assume it's long gone ?

The Malt shovel was no 37 Bromsgrove St, and seems to have disappeared , the site becoming a wardrobe dealer, between 1908 and 1912. Can let you know the landlords i have if you want.

Thanks for that. I am looking for someone named Surname " Joyce" or "Bailey", possibly Richard or John.

I suspected it had gone, that's progress !

Thanks for your help
Simon

The 1891 census gives the following for the malt shovel;
John Bailey,Head,M,32,,Publican Manager,born,Birmingham Warwickshire,,
Ellen Bailey,Wife,M,,32,,born,Birmingham Warwickshire,,
John Jr Bailey,Son,,10,,Scholar,born,Birmingham Warwickshire,
,Emma Bailey,Dau,,,6,Scholar,born,Birmingham Warwickshire,,
Millie Bailey,Dau,,,4,,,born Birmingham Warwickshire,,
Elizabeth Bailey,Dau,,,3,born,Birmingham Warwickshire
Kellys shows that the landlord was a William Davis in the 1890 edition (which might rely on information from late 1889). Kellys shows john Bailey as landlord up to the 1897 edition, but he has been replaced by William James Clark.in the 1899 edition. Hope that is useful
