knowlegable brummie
i wonder if anyone could find my grandparents at 14 church lane in aston. My dad said they owned a fish and chip shop from about 1938 to 1941. would be interested to see what names were at that address in those times. Thank you

Kath
the following is from kellys for 14 Church lane aston:
from at least 1935-1938 Mrs Louisa Langford fried fish dealer
1939 - 1940 Thomas Malins fried fish shop
1943 - not listed
Because of time for preparation you usually take Kellys to refer to year before. therefore 1939-1940 kellys refers to 1938-9 (posiibly later but dont have directory for 41 and 42)

Thank you Mike. It's good to see documentation to add to one's family history. Thomas Malin was my grandfather. They had the fish and chip shop to at least end of 1941 and I think sold it sometime 1942.
