Does anyone have information about a William Henry Lyndon, my great grandfather?
I know that he married Martha Jane Love at Holy Trinity Parish Church, Bordesley on Christmas Day 1888 and they had four children, one of whom was my grandfather, William Henry Jnr. I also know the family lived at no 11 Garrison Lane between 1891 and 1901 and shortly afterwards moved to no 33. Sadly, William died, aged only 33, in Oct 1902.

What I do not know is where Wm Hry was born and who were his parents. If anyone is related to, or descended from, the Lyndons and would like to exchange information, I would love to hear from them.

You need to order the marriage certificate for William and Martha to confirm William's father.

On the 1891 and 1901 Census William and Martha are as you say living in Garrison Lane, next door to a family called Love.

Re: The Lyndon Family of Birmingham

Many thanks to Di Poppitt and Pomgolian for your helpful comments. I will certainly check them all out.

I do have the marriage cert of William and Martha which shows William to have been 19 y.o. in Dec 1888 and that his father's name was William Henry Lyndon. This record, plus the two later census records show him to have been born in Birmingham about 1869/70. Unfortunately, this does not seem to fit the various records Pomgolian found on Family Search but I still have an open mind. The only William Henry Lyndon I can find who was born at this time, is one born in Pancras, London, on 21 June, 1869, the son of William Lyndon and Minnie Emily Lyndon, formerly Whitman.

While I am inclined to accept that the Pancras record is the most likely fit for my great grandfather, I would love to find some record of the marriage of William and Minnie or some census recrd of them living together with their son. I have found neither and feel that this line of enquiry may have reached its end.

This is the first time I have used this "surname interest" section of the site and I am impressed with the speed of response and the helpfulness of the respondents. Thank you both very much

Hi

My Great Grandfather was Henry William Lyndon, but he tended to call himself William, he was born about 1844 and died in 1894.

In various census records his surname is also spelt Lindon or London and his profession was Safe Maker.

He was born in Birmingham and married Rose Barnett (also spelt Barnard in census records) in 1866.

They had seven children including my Grandmother Ada.

I dont know much more but would be interested to find out if we are connected.

Kind regards

Martin Skellum.

I must take a look to see if any of these names are on my Lyndon side. They were from Aston Birmingham.

I have met another Lyndon from Birmingham. He is not on my family tree but maybe on yours Martin?. My friend is doing his family tree for him. My dad was Albert Edward Lyndon and he had one brother George and sisters Anne, Nellie, floss and Beatrice.

Thanks for reply, maybe when your friend has completed his work it may become clearer.

I would be pleased to supply any information that may be of assistance and would be most interested in the outcome.

I have one photograph only of Rose Lyndon (Nee Barnett/Barnard) and would love to find others.

Regards

Martin

Hi Martin I will try and get in touch with Sandra today but she is still having trouble with her internet connection. Will find out the full name of Mr Lyndon who used to run the Duke William pub in Bewdley. I did put my Lyndon photo's on but the forum was hacked and they disappeared. I must down size them and try again. Jean.

Martin the gentleman's name is Philip Lyndon. Sandra still can't connect with the internet but will send what she has researched as soon as she can. Sandra said some of his line originated from Smethwick. Jean.
