Lower Nelson Street

Can anyone pinpoint where Lower Nelson Street was please ? Was it part of Nelson Street near Sandpits ?

Thanks. Viv.

There appears to be a Lower Nelson Road in Aston Manor.

I suspect it was half of what is now Nelson Road, running between Witton Road and Wenlock Road. It is listed on the 1901 census near to Witton Road and Emscote Road but by the 1917 map both parts are Nelson Road.

Searching for Lower Nelson Street in Bham or Aston returns nothing. Half of Nelson St did used to be Nelson St West.

Is that currently or in the past MWS ? If in the past can you tell me any dates please ? Many thanks. Viv.

There is a Lower Nelson St in Coventry. But apart from that, although I cannot find a lower Nelson ST in any directory or on a map, the term was apparently used, presumably with respect to part of Nelson St or Nelson St West, by people, as the cutting from 1875 below shows.
