I am researching my brother-in-law's family, the Lambeths, who were an old Birmingham family to be found working as jewellers in Hockley in the mid-1800's.
The census and statutory registers get me back to a James Lambeth b 1826 in Birmingham, living with his mother Ann (b 1791, not in Warwickshire) and siblings in Windmill Street in 1840. I have found IGI records matching the names and birth dates of three of James' siblings, Emma, William and Thomas - all christened at St Martins to parents Thomas and Ann Lambeth.
I am interested in anything that might be in the parish records for St Martins that might help me. I can't find a marriage, which would be around 1812 as the first child recorded is 1813, nor a christening for Thomas senior - who one might assume is roughly the same age as Ann so 1780/90-ish.
It's interesting to find a Birmingham family this old - most of the other families I have researched that are connected with ours start out in the sticks somewhere and make the inevitable journey into Birmingham during the Industrial Revolution.
Anyway, I hope someone can help!
Thanks,
Frazer
