Look ups on Louis Cohen and E. Cohen of Birmingham 1890-1930s

Dear Gang,

I just had this thought that Jacob Winter's first wife Tilley Cohen might be connected to Deborah Caro nee Cohen.

It is certainly an avenue that has not been explored.
The infomation I have on Tillys family is sparse:

Her Father Louis Cohen was a provision merchant and lived at 36 Holloway Road, Birmingham in 1906.

She had at leat one brother:
E. Cohen who lived at 39 Wrentham Street, Birmingham in 1914.

I would be thankful for any help in filling in the gaps on these two through the electoral roll and directories.
Cheers
Gareth

There is a Lewis Jacob Cohen, tailor, in this period, but I have ignored him. There is also a Lewis Cohen . fried fish dealer . 22 Essex St, but thisprobably has no direct connection .
There is no Holloway Road listed in Birmingham around that time, There is a Holloway Head, and at 36 Holloway Head, from 1903-1905 there is a Lewis Cohen, baker. By 1908 it has changed to Mrs Annie Cohen , baker (has Lewis (Louis) died?), who is still there in 1913, but the shop is Isaac Lyons, baker by 1915.. The 1901 census shows no 36 as uninhabited

29 Wrentham St
From at least 1895 till 1905 this is James Thomas Hemming, baker. By 1908 it is Albert H.Hemming, baker who is there till 1910. By 1912 it is Emmanuel Cohen, baker, who is still there in 1921, but has gone by 1932 .The electoral rolls show that Emmanuel left between 1927 and 1930., though for some reason , although emmanuel was listed there in 1912 and 1922-27, Solomon Cohen only was listed in 1920.

Dear Mike,

Thanks a lot for the information.

It seems Tilley Cohen's sister Gertrude Cohen married Joseph Engleman in 1906. Joseph Engleman was one of Jacob Winters naturalisation signatories in 1910.

They were apparently living at 3 Florence Street in 1901 and then were not bakers but provision merchants. Also the father Louis Cohen was called Lazarus Cohen then. Any sight of this family at 3 Florence Street in the Kellys around 1895-1903?
Cheers,
GARETH
