It looks like the top of Livery St at the junction with Colmore Row so the excavation would be where part of Snow Hill station was.

Thanks that would be the place.
Snow Hill Station has had three re-incarnations with this being the last so far. This end by Colmore Row had been the hotel and then there was the road access from Snow Hill and from Livery Street, the booking office and then the stairs to the main platforms.
This area is now covered over by the shops, offices and a public space.
