Lily Brown appears to have married Michael J Brown in 1956, which doesn't make it easy. Nothings jumping out.

That was what I thought Lyn.

I think Lily was the daughter of Clifford and Alice Day. They are all at 330 Birchfield Road in 1939. Sheila seems to be an illegitimate daughter of Lily.

In 1939 Lily is listed with name Brown as well, and she seems to marry Michael J Brown.

ok so as i thought then ...sheila was illegitimate so we are now looking for the death of lily brown..

Possibly as long as she didn't marry again after they stopped updating the 1939 register. This gives here dob as 24 Apr 1916

as you said mark lily day is on 2 39 registers...first one she is with parents and brother but there is a line through her name...on the other one she is down as by herself...same addresses on both and on the 2nd one name crossed out and replaced by the name brown indicating she married a brown...very odd

For some reason the second entry is listed as schedule 195 the same as the first. So was it entered as a correction since the job was crossed out? Both entries are identical.

Really appreciate this would lily parents come from Ireland and moved to Birmingham???

Many thanks

Neil

As far as I can see the Lily from 330 Birchfield Road was born in Bham as was her parents and paternal grandparents. Maternal grandparents were from London.

If your Lily was of Irish descent then possibly not the same one.

I can see a possible Raymond Day, listed with mmn Day an indication of a single mother, b1940 and a matching death in 2005.

yes mark it looks like both shelia and raymond were illegitimate

The family of Lilly (2 "ls") plus Clifford, Alice and 5 others are all on the 1921 census in Birmingham. So if they came from Ireland it was before that date.
1911 census gives Clifford and Alice as born in Birmingham also their 2 eldest children.
