Lilley Frederick & Lucy Looking for descendants

iainharvey

proper brummie kid
Hi

I am looking to make contact with any descendants of Frederick and Lucy (nee Wainwright) Lilley. They were my 2x great grandparents. Fred was born in Middlesex in 1860 and Lucy was born here in Birmingham in 1863. After they married in 1883, they lived the rest of their lives in Selly Oak. They had 11 children, 9 of whom I know the names of - Thomas, Annie, Frederick, Henry, Ernest, Lucy, Maud, William and Albert.

If anyone who reads this is related to any of these people, I would really like to speak with you about them.

Thanks
Iain

Hi Iain,

1891 FreeCen not showing Fred & Lucy Lilley , hopefully some folks on here will trace +1901/1911 for you

In case you haven't got their marriage certificate here,s the details , Obtain from B,ham Register Office.
Frederick Lilley married Lucy Amenah Wainwright Sept Quarter 1883 volume 6d page 261.
(Amenah ? very unusual name,,may be a mistake/print/translation of Amelia or?) good luck John

Hi John,

Thanks for replying and for taking the time to look up what you have.

I've been able to find Fred & Lucy in all the censuses and have their certificates so I have all the "official record" data. Amenah has been a good tool in making sure I had the right people.

What I'm after is to make contact with any of their descendants outside of my immediate family so that I can try to build up this part of my family tree and in particular to get copies of photographs to show my nan as she does not have any of these grand parents.

Thanks
Iain

Iain, are you a subscriber to Ancestry?
If you are and you start building your tree, if there is anyone researching the same names, it will give you a link to their tree and you can then e-mail them, I have had some great results from this, my dads family mostly and we have found people dad didn't know existed!

Hi Sue,

Yes, I am a subscriber to Ancestry. I've gotten some great results and contacts through there before including for the Lilleys but nothing of substance for this particular group of Lilleys. Same goes for Genes Reunited too.

I'm not expecting any immediate replies from family to this thread, although that would be nice. This is more for anyone that might search for them in the future so they know someone else is looking too.

Thanks
Iain

Hi again Iain, just giving your quest another bit of thought & it may be better to go "backwards" from 1960 to get "further",

Have you tried searching the B,ham Electoral Rolls? roughly 1912/13 to 1960 (pick your years)
at www.midlandshistoricaldata.org this should reinforce & substantiate yor already considerable information then
return to this site with Individuals (eg Thomas+wife or Annie(married name)+hubby) etc as looking for 7 +unknown 2
down main Fred & Lucy Tree to branchlets/twigs may get tricky,,,Placing each in Surnames section may produce results.

The above site i have found very useful in building my "tree", Its a pay-per-view but not expensive, well worth a try,
Good luck John

Hi John

As it happens I do have some Electoral Roll data for the people I'm looking for. I'll put what I have below with the last address I have for them:

Fred & Lucy - 1 back 607 Bristol Road
Thomas Richard married Rose Moore in 1907. At least 3 children. Last address 250 Reservoir Road.
Annie married John Day in 1908. At least 4 children. Address uncertain. EDIT - Last address 251 Reservoir Road
Henry Charles married Margaret Roberts. No children. He died in First World War and Margaret remarried to a James Lackey.
Lucy May married Henry Lawrence in 1914. At least 1 child. Emmigrated to Canada but did return. Address uncertain.
William married Mildred Cooper in 1924. At least 5 children. Last address 43 Winnie Road.
Albert Augustus married Nellie Moore in 1929. At least 1 child. Address uncertain. EDIT - Last address 282 Reservoir Road

Frederick and Ernest died at yound ages before getting married or having children. Maud was my great grandmother and I have plenty of contacts for her. I will continue to look for addresses and update this post as needed.

I'll check out that site you mentioned too.

Thanks
Iain
