does any one remember ley hill school carnival in1974? my daughter was in it and won first prize with a group of friends ,i came a cross some photos and it got me thinking, also was it a headmaster or a headmistress at the school then? di

I remember the school as i went there from 1974 onwards I lived in the flats on rhayader road and spent my infants and junior years at the school. The headmaster was called Mr Ratcliffe or Radcliffe who had a grey beard and wore glasses, I remember him quite well as I had to visit his office quite regularly. Some of the other teachers were called Mr Treadwell and Turner Mrs Morgan and Miss Thompson. Unfortunately My parents lost all photos we had of the school and the carnival which I think would probably have been for the queens jubilee. If this is the case then i remember we had street parties with bunting music etc. I would appreciate any pics of this place and era and any other questions you have dont hesitate to ask. hi all
I was in the army cadets in northfield, they were next to the swimming baths on the bristol road, facing that black and white pub, I worked at perks grocers on the bristol road, as a saturday boy delivering stuff on one of those cycles, and sweeping up and stock counting.

Hi

Yes I can remember Ley Hill School and the Carnival. I believe I was in the same class as your daughter and was friends if you lived in Ley Hill Farm Road in the highrise flats that are no longer there now. I am sure your daughter name is Karen (Forgive me if I have got this wrong). Those were the good old days I loved that School so much and all the Teachers were great.
I am going to look through all our old photographs and I am sure I will find a few of the Carnival and if I do you are more than welcome to have them.
Do you remember at the School during the Carnival (in the bottom playground) there was a Police Dog demonstration I do and I know we have got photographs of that.

hello Mrs Hodgetts,

How lovely you can remember me and my family, my Mom (Jean) was only talking about you the other day, It only seems like yesterday since we were all at Ley Hill School and playing in the playground with Karen and the other girls like Ann, Julie and Penny although Ann did leave in year 4. I still see Linda Chisholm about and I always ask how you all are and ask her how that dear brother of hers is. I have still got your address and was wondering if you would mind if I wrote to you, let me know.
Love to you all, say hi to Karen for me, Jackie (Jacqueline)
