I went to Ley Hill School aged 8 when it first opened in September 1954, and left aged 11 in 1957. The head teacher was named Derek Wright who was a real vicious bully. He would knock seven bells out of kids for the slightest reason. First teacher I had was Miss Wheeler and then Mr Wills for two years. Other teachers at the school I can recall are Mrs Lloyd, Mr Smith and Miss Fielding (or was it Miss Scott) who both married while I was there. The school later changed its name to 'The Orchards Primary Academy'.....in 2013 I think.
