I am a very new member who is finding the Forum and its posts fascinating. But there is a lot that new members have to learn. I have been using the Forum Practice Area to try out various attachments and I had thought that these tests would remain in the Practice Area. However somehow my drafts have leaked out into the Shops forum, and appeared without explanation. I apologise for the confusion.

For post #694 I had intended to provide this introduction:
For both the rebuildings of the Birmingham Lewis’s between 1924 and 1935 the Architect (my grandfather G de C Fraser) had an office in Temple Row (which leads into the Minories. Here his “resident representative” David Lumsden was based. After eleven years of presumably successful cooperation there was a bust up. Lumsden claimed he was a partner and sued the architect, who denied the claim. The press cutting I attached describes the court case which the judge said was pretty childish.

Post #695 has nothing to do with Birmingham. It is a photograph of Gerald de Courcy Fraser laying a foundation stone elsewhere. Its only interest to the Forum is that there might be a photo of a similar event in Birmingham.
Again, sorry for the confusion.

I think the problem occurred because you started a new Lewis's thread when there already was one and most of us have all made that mistake at some time or other ... it still happens. Perhaps an Admin member moved your post to the existing thread..

You can edit your own posts eg.
You could highlight the relevant paragraph in your post above, copy it into your computer memory then go to your post#694 and paste it in as required. Use 'preview' to see if it looks ok and then hit save.

However it may be best to have a practice with the Edit so go to a thread such as below and practice with editing.
https://birminghamhistory.co.uk/forum/index.php?threads/just-testin.46179/post-565579

Start a post and type some words about that you are practicing editing or about anything.
Post it.
Then view the post and click the word 'Edit' and change something.
After you have changed it click the 'Save' button and your post is edited.
Click 'Edit' again and change something else
You can keep editing until your post is exactly as you want it to look.
You can cancel during the edit if you want to.

When you have got used to editing in the 'just-testing' thread go to post#694 and using edit make the changes as required. Also edit #695 if you want to.

Only you and an Admin member can edit your posts, no one else can.

We were all new members once and had to find our way around the forum ... :)
