The latest newsletter from the Mills Archive describes a collection of letters from and to this millwright and his son around the middle of the 19th century.
These letters and other items are mostly viewable online at a link at the end of the article.
He was based at Tamworth in Arden , but involved Birmingham clients and visits to Birmingham and areas around. For example (below) a letter from R.J, Handley, mill stone maker in 1866 . The address is difficult to read in reproduction, but the 1867 directory shows it as Iron House,Moor St & Castle St. This seems to be on the corner of Moor St, so it is not two establishments. The 1862 Corporation directory shows it as 58 Park Street.
Richard Guy Handley seems to be doing quite well by the middle of the century. As a young man he apparently was a bit naughty

and his business had problems by 1890
