Lea Village

When I was at Lea Village school every year we had a football match on Donkeys Hollow .Pupils V Teachers for an old tin cup called the Docker Cup.It was knocked up by the Metalwork Teacher Mr Tickell out of a bit of metal.
Great fun

When I was at Lea Village the woodwork teachers were Tickell and Tozer and metalwork was Duxbury, regards, John.

Yes, Cowley overlapped with the new head, Francis. I think Percy Upton was the teacher in 4a and the science teacher was Fields.

Thanks john.Thats right it was Mr Upton. After I had started my apprenticeship as a Mechanic about 2 years after leaving school.I was out on a breakdown and heard someone call my name ,it was Mr Upton. We had a good old chat.Fancy him remembering me after 2years.McFarland used to take us for gym,the shot put and me and Richard Barton for the half mile ,which we ran on sports day

Funny thing in about 1987 I had a breakdown in Shirley Road Acocks Green, it was at MacFarlanes' home address but he didn't recall me and he said he had never had an A stream class!!! still he was eighty three years at that time. I've attached a "newspaper" photo of 2A in 1954 as i say its from newsprint so not too clever, John.Class 2A 1954 Lea Village School.jpg
