KING - COLLIS Family

Greenways6

knowlegable brummie
Hit a brick wall with a family I am researching. Can anyone come up with some suggestions.
Frances COLLIS born c.1838 Abberley, WOR married Edmund EDKINS in Birmingham in 1863. Their issue was Frank Edmund Collis EDKINS born 16 Jun 1864 Aston, WAR and Sidney Alfred EDKINS born 28 Sep 1965 Aston, WAR.
Edmund EDKINS died in 1871 in B'ham and Frances married for a second time to William KING. William KING born c.1840 Yardley, WOR (Bapt. 1840 Elmdon) married Jun Qtr 1879 Meriden Reg. Dist.
I have William KING and Frances on the 1881 Census at Sheldon Hall, while the two EDKINS lads are in Coleshill. Then all four seem to disappear.

It is rumoured Sidney EDKINS married in South Africa and then went on to New Zealand, as possibly did his brother Edmund. So what happened to Frances and William KING?

Hi,

Just on the William King. He is a farmer at Sheldon Hall in 1880 Kelly's, but has disappeared by the 1884 Kelly's.

Hi Ann,

Thanks for looking that up, but unfortunately it doesn't put me any further forward. I have already looked at Directories and some newspapers. There is an advert dated 1883 from the Hall when a reward is offered for a lost dog - no family name mentioned! Wouldn't you know it.

Lost dog - I have lost a family.
