My partner is eager to find out information regarding his father Frederick Kendall who lived in Hingestion Sreet, (maybe no 9?) Brookfields with his parents from about 1916 to 1950. Frederick Kendall was a jeweller and also had a couple of taxis and sadly died at the young age of 36 in 1952. At the time was married to Daphne and had a two year old son Carl who I don't believe lived in Hingestion Street probably moved to Gillot Road, Edgbaston by then. As Carl was only two years old when his father died he knows very little about his father and his father's family although he remembers his "Nan Kendall" who we think was called Nell or Ellen. We believe she had a sweet shop in Hingestion Street and his father whose name we don't know was involved in the Jewellery business in Hockley and possibly The Mint. His mother has told him very little about his father or his fathers family and he would dearly like to know.
Carl is better known as Carl Palmer as he took his step fathers name and was brought up in Handsworth Wood.
It would be great to hear from anyone who remembers the family or has photos or other memories and information regarding the Kendall family.

Hi Katie.

I have checked the Electoral Roll Index from 1912 to 1935 and your man does not appear in Hingestion Street, also applies to Daphne Kendall.

There is a Frederick Kendall who appears in Kent Street.

Barrie.

Re: Kendall family, Hingestion Street/Kent Street 1916 -1950 ?

Thank you to you all of you for your interesting replies. If there is anyone who recalls a Frederick Kendall in Kent Street probably it would be in the 1940's I would imagine as a adult he may have lived there after leaving his parents home, hence being on the electoral roll.
It is great to hear about Ellen Kendall and the fact she was a confectioner in Hingestion Street in 1921 when Carl's father was a young boy. Is there anything about her husband Edwin Kendall?
It would be fantastic to hear if anyone knew of Frederick Kendall and the school he went to. he would be in his 90's of course had he lived.

Just to say the spelling of the street is Hingeston not Hingestion.

There is a Kendall family in Hingeston St, they are as follows.

living at No 82.

1925 Edwin Kendall Ellen Kendall

1930 Edwin Kendall Helen Kendall Vera Ellen Kendall

1935 Edwin Kendall Helen Kendall Vera Helen Kendall.

I have written the names just as they are shown on the page.

In 1920 Frederick and Vera Kate Kendall were living at No 2 Kent Street. They are on the electoral roll at that address.
