Joseph Lucas history

there are a couple of books about joseph lucas what is the exact title and who wrote it

How can I get a copy of the book, from, where & cost I live in Berwick, Victoria, Australia
Ernie,
Here are some book titles you could search for:

Harold Nockolds book is two volumes published by David and Charles, and would appear the most substantial . There are copies listed on ABE books UK Secondhand.
Gordon Bunce, Lucas: Birmingham and Beyond is currently on Amazon at £41 new.

Depends what you want and what you are prepared to pay including postage. Short company histories are on the internet.

Hope that's useful

Derek

It is worth saying Ernie, that the price of local history and company history books vary according to demand, condition and how scarce they are (in your country). Ex-library copies can be good value if you just want a reading copy. I'd look on ABE books (which is owned by Amazon) and see if an Australian book dealer can do you a better price. I shared an office once with a writer who dealt in books on the side and it was an education. Watch the postage if you buy from abroad as you may have to.

Good advice Derek! Mikejee directed me to ABE books a couple of years ago I found them very useful. They directed me to a store in the US that had a copy of the book!

The ABE website is very user-friendly. I easily found the books I needed. Only the first time I didn’t think about the cost of delivery. Now I'm careful about it.

I have 2 Lucas books by Harold Nockolds -
  • Lucas The First 100 Years vol 1 - The King of The Road
  • Lucas The First 100 Years vol 2 - The Successors
I also have a ring binder called "Jottings" by AB Waring or Sir Bertram Waring (2nd Edition 1968). AB Waring was the Chairman and MD of Lucas Industries and held several positions with the SMMT.

I would be happy to sell these if anyone wants to make an offer but I expect the postage will be expensive as they are weighty books. I will be in Central Birmingham over New Year and could meet to hand over. All in good condition. It would be nice if they could go to someone who would value them or make good use of them.
