Here he is as a coal merchant in 1908

brilliant, nan said it was next to the post office. so a haulier of coal?!? thank you

In both 1908 and 1921 Lowe & Sommerton are listed in the street section of Kellys as being coal dealers at or near 91 Rolfe St (No not listed in 1908). they are not there in 1932 or 1904. Several other coal dealers are close by. But in bothe 1908 and 1921, in the alphabetical section of kellys, Joseph is listed separately as Haulier in Rolfe St (no number), so he maybe did a bit of general work as well by himself. I did check that there wasn't a separate J. Lowe in rolfe st as well.
