Joseph Frank Pimm artist and etcher (born 1900) lived in Woodstock Road, Handsworth. After studying at the Birmingham School of Art (Margaret Street), he exhibited for many years at the RA and became a member of the RBSA in 1960. He presented 12 etchings to Handsworth Historical Society in 1968. He died aged 71 in 1972, requesting that after his death the printing plates for his work be destroyed. A memorial exhibition was held at the Graves Gallery, Lower Severn Street, Birmingham.

Apparently he was a simple man in his appreciation of homely comforts and his complete disregard for conformity. Many people remember him riding his high sturdy bicycle around Birmingham.

Here are a few of his works. The fourth image is of Rocky Lne. Viv.

The one depicting St. Chads Cathedral seems to be the one where most in the vicinity of the place has changed. It is an picture which is not only delightful but also of historical significance. The Market Hall is another historical masterpiece.
