Have had great info from a member that my grandfather died in 1930 aged 57 re 6d 181JFM quarter. Want to find out WHERE he is buried as want to visit. Thanks for any info...Anya Darr
Thanks. Its so frustrating as I have a photo of a black marble head stone with his name on and the fact that its in Brimingham but not where! They lived in Edgbaston when he died, do you know which is the nearest cemetary to there, I could check, Granny was High Church C of E but the photo doesn't look like a church burial ground.
I would say the most likely place would be Lodge Hill Cemetery opened in 1895 to serve Edgebaston, Harborne, Selly Oak, Northfield, Rednal and Bounville. The indexes are at Central Library. I am not sure if you can get burial details from Lodge Hill.
Thanks I have made a note of this. Sadly, I live in Devon so trips to Birmingham not that easy. Can one access any of this on line? Or someone with a library card look it up for me?
Contact the cemetery if you have death dates etc it makes it much easier to search. If you have no luck try contacting the library but ask what they charge first.
