Hi I am beginning a search about my late Mother's family and wonder if anyone can offer any information? Her details are: Edna Edith Jones D.O.B. 16/11/29. I know she lived with her faimily in Harborne probably until the 1950's when she left the area and cut off contact with them.
Any knowledge would be appreciated.
 
was edna edith jones her maiden name?

there is a death of edna mathews in bromsgrove in november 1991 aged 62yrs. date of birth is given as 16 nov 1929
 
sorry about that anne, but it was worth a try! ive looked for a birth certificate and cant find anything registered for edna (e or edith) jones in 1929 oct-dec or 1930 jan-mar, unless she was born in a totally differenct area. if we could find her birth cert. it would give mothers maiden name so would probably be able to trace her parents. good luck in your search. shera
 
Thanks Shera I have applied via the GRO for her birth certificate so hopefully should get some information from that. My information is that she was born in Birmingham but this could be wrong. Thanks again for your help,it was kind of you.
 
Hi all, I now have a copy of my Mother's birth certificate so may be able to progress a little with some new information about her family:-
Her parents are listed as: Ernest and Harriet Edith Jones (formerley Billings). My Mother's place of birth was: 2 Back 53 Nelson Street Ladywood. She was actually born on 16/11/28.
Any information that could be found is appreciated

in 1935 and 1939 ernest francis and harriet edith jones were living 10 norrington rd, northfield

ernest william jones 1 b. handsworth

they had been married for one year.
 
possible children to the couple apart from ernest william born 1910 are

elsie m jones b.1920
edna e jones b.1928 *
jean d jones b.1929
joyce b jones b.1931
betty d jones b.1936

all these were born bham and had mothers maiden name billings.

william billings 47 navvy employer born smethwick
rhoda billings 46 b. edgbaston
edith billings 10 b. smethwick

and in 1891 at queen st. (3 cumberland place) harborne

william billings 30? under roller at iron works b. smethwick
rhoda billings 32 b edgbaston
frank billings 15 printers apprentice b. handsworth
harriet e billings 6mths b. smethwick
 
this must be william and rhoda in 1911 living 5 eastern terrace, chapel st. handsworth

they dont seem to be able to make up their minds how old they are and have even mixed up place of birth on this one!

william billings 50 labourer born birmingham
rhoda billings 49 born smethwick

for how many years married it says not known. and states they had 3 children but 1 had died
