I am trying to find out more info about my grandfather's brother Albert Jones who's wife was named Gertrude.
Albert was the son of William Jones & Fanny Dallow & he lived in the Aston parish of Birmingham, born 1893.
I do not know Gertrude's maiden name or when & where they married.
I know that they used to live at 4 Ryland Road, Sparkhill and that they were certainly there between at least 1935 to 1956 but they could have lived there for many years prior to 1935.
They are known to have had one daughter who was named Florence who became a nurse.
It is thought that Albert & Gertrude left Ryland Road some time around 1956 when Gertrude was diagnosed with stomach cancer. They moved to where their daughter lived (who by this time was married with 2 children & still working as a nurse) as they hoped that she could help with caring for her mother during her illness.
It has been suggested that they either moved to Macclesfield or Loughborough but I cannot say that either place is really correct.
When Gertrude died Albert then moved to Kidderminster to live with his sister Eveline Jones (who was known as Eva). It is known that he re-married whilst in Kidderminster but his second wife's name is unknown. The marriage only lasted a few months after which Albert returned to live with his sister for a while before moving back to Birmingham where he lived until his death with his niece & her husband in Springcroft Road, Hall Green.
It's thought that he was cremated at Yardley cemetery.
Although I know the basic story I know none of the details and would dearly like to fill in as many gaps as possible and learn of names, places, dates, etc.
Should anyone know of Albert & Gertrude Jones I would be very grateful for any help at all please.
