Hi there,
I don't know for sure that John Dickins was born in the St Martin's area, but he was described as "of the Parish of St Martin's Birmingham" when he got married in 1811 at Castle Church, Stafford. I know he was born around 1772 from his death notice and census return. It is possible that is father was also John Dickins, born 1737.
I know from a printed history of the family that he was married twice and had many children. No details were given of his first marriage. My ancestor is from the second marriage at Stafford, but he may well have been married at St Martin's previously.
The other things I know about this man are that he served in the army in a number of positions and battalions, and that is first children (before 1818) of his second marriage were baptised at St John's Deritend.
I'd be really grateful if you can find anything for him
Thanks!
