John Bryant & Sons

Brummie babby
Hi

I have recently finished restoring my 1938 Austin 12/4 New Ascot and I am trying to research its history, which is sadly lacking.

According to a badge fixed to the sunroof rail it appears the supplying dealer was John Bryant & Sons of Birmingham. I believe that they were situated in New Street, Birmingham at this time.

I am trying to find some period correct photos of the dealer garage to add to my history file and this group was recommended to me as a potential source for these. Any help would be gratefully received.

Kind regards

Steve Fennell

Also in Bromsgrove

Hi. Thank you for this. Coincidentally someone has just sent me this via my Facebook post on the same subject. I knew there was a Bromsgrove garage under the same ownership and I can’t yet confirm whether the car would have been registered through the Birmingham or Bromsgrove offices. The registration number is DOX *** which is a Birmingham registration but I suspect Bromsgrove may also have used Birmingham registrations as well although they have used Worcester numbers. I need to try to confirm this. Kind regards. Steve F.

Hi. Thank you for this information. What’re is this taken from please and what date? The info seems to suggest that the first entry is from 1923 and the New Street branch was a Wolseley agent at that time. The second entry seems to suggest it is from 1936 and the branch was an Austin agent at that time - mine is early 1938(Feb) so it suggests it may have Ben supplied through the Stephenson Street outlet. Kind regards. Steve F.
