I have just made contact with a decendant of my Birmingham McKnight family in America. The problem is we are having problems finding them in the 1851 census. They are listed in 1841 and 1861 living in Well Street.
In 1841 they are John 30, Margaret 30, Thomas 11, John 8, Robert 7, Jannet 5, Margaret 3, Mary 1. Any help would be appreciated.
 
Here they are Wendy. I used the old trick of putting Janet in the search box, she came up as Janet Knight, father John M. the census is clear and says John Mc knght, but it was wrongly transcribed. They are living at 86 Well Street and John is a coal dealer

What number was they living at in 1841/61 census, i will go into 1851 census and search manually by district, i know it's St George.

Thats odd, Di.Poppits post didn't show when i first looked, good job i checked back LOL, thats saved me going through them all on Wells St
