jewellry finisher?

Hi

I recently got a long lost relatives certificate which showed she was a jewellery finisher. I have heard mentioned that there is a "jewellry quarter" in Birmingham and, having not ever been to the city, wondered if this is just a name or did it have real connotations with jewellry? Could someone fill me in?

yes there is a jewery manufacturing area in Birmingham, my cosin worked in it for 40 years. I am not from Birmingham so I cant give you any more info than that.

Here is a photo of my Wife's Mother Rose Ford, she worked in the Jewellery Quarter most of her life, this shows her polishing rings before before the stones are set.
 
Darby what a wonderful photo of Rose at her work. Has it ever been published? I just love these type photo's. There are some around the Jewellery Quarter. Thanks for posting it.
