Jennings Walsgrave On Sowe

Hi West Yorks some of my Jennings family lived in Coventry although I am not sure of all the exact locations. My gt grandfather's brother Thomas married Ann Green and were ribbon weavers in Coventry. Also a sister Elizabeth Jennings who Married Henry Newbold and lived in Coventry although she died in the US. Most seemed to originate in Lutterworth. I will have to study my files. Welcome by the way:)

Hi Wendy.
Thanks for your welcome and reply.
The research I`ve done on my Jennings family suggests they were all from Walsgrave On Sowe, and most were agricultural labourers, and a few were weavers.
I`ve been told that Walsgrave had the largest concentration of Jennings`s than anywhere else in the country.
Thanks Robert.

Hi Robert, I have done a lot of research on my Jennings family and I own a family bible with extracts written by my gt grandfather written in 1908. John Jennings was born Lutterworth 1825. He came to Birmingham in 1853 and became a successful business man. I have two obituaries which detail this. I think most on the forum are tired of my family history:D. My latest success is a Jennings family grave buried for over 50 years which with the help of my family has been restored. There is a large Jennings family in Ireland which has no connection to mine. They are all over the place. The Jennings family in Birmingham sometimes gets confused with the Jennens family who were large land owners with the road Jennens Row named after them. It was often thought the book Bleak House was about this family who fought court cases for years and ended up with nothing.
The family I have in Coventry moved there from Lutterworth around 1845 where there were also a lot of Jennings's:)

Hi Wendy.
Thanks for your reply.
It does seem that Jennings is a common name in the West Midlands.
Thanks again.
Robert.
