JENNEY: WILLIAM & ELIZABETH

The Baron

master brummie
Iam trying to find out when my g.g.gran dad & his wife came to Birmingham from Louth in Lincolnshire.
He was a Taylor & had a shop in Dale End some time in the 1800.
I think he was born round about 1815 in Louth.
Thanks for all your help in the past.

brummie nick Thanks, all the members of my family are as you posted, Fredrick Charles Jenney, was my grandad. William Wright Jenney, my great grandad.
But Iam still looking for my g g grandad who was also a Willlam Jenney & I know he came from Louth but when? is still a mystery.
The shop in Dale End I think was No 54 1/2. I do not know what the 1/2 means. It also seems he my have retuned to Louth without his Family at sometime as I have been told he died in the workhouse there, this I have not been able to confirm as of yet.
Many thanks your help.

Thank you Pomgolian for your prompt reply, I will check out the subscription to Ancetry.com & see if it not to expensive.
The info you have given me is a little confusing as our family name is spelt JENNEY,but as I have said the christian names that look like family names ie Charles&Elizabeth tally with what I have found.
What is more the William & Elizabeth I have came from Lincolnshire? looking at the Jenneys in that area & Norfolk it seems that it was a very common surname?
Thanks again for your help

LOOKING INTO THE JENNEY FAMILY ORIGINS I HAVE FOUND THE FOLLOWING & IT SEEMS TO ADD UP WITH THE AREA MY ANCESTORS CAME FROM!
"The ancestors of the Jenney family first reached the shores of England in the wave of migration after the Norman Conquest of 1066.Their name is derived from the personal name John. The femine name Kenny was initially a masculine form and modification of the personal name Jenin. The Norman name for Jenney descended from Guisnes near Calais in Normandy. The family name Jenney was brought to England after the Norman Conquest, when William the Conqueror gave his friend and relatives most of the land formerly owend by Anglo-Saxon aristocrats.
Spelling variations include: Jenney,Jennie,Jenny,Genny,Gennie,Gynney and others.
First found in Suffolk where they were seated as Lords of the Manor of Bredfield in that shire where they were granted land by Duke William for their assistance at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 A.D.
Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were Abigail,John,Samual,Sarah and Thomas Jenney who settled in Plymouth,Mass.in 1623:three years after the "Mayflower". Richard Jenney settled in Virginia in 1639.
The JENNEY MOTTO Being:"GOD WILL PROVIDE FOR ME"
Cromwell, Do yuo know how I may be able to find if these JENNEY'S have a family coat of arms?
Can any one add any more to this, I also know the first skyscraper was designed by a William Jenney.
