Hi Astonian

Is it possible that she married twice, i know my great great grandmother did and it wasn't till i got the marriage cert i found out her name was Worrall and she had been using her late husbands name of Dixon.

Just another possibilty to confuse you i know had frustrating it can get.
Good luck with your research, i may be in town next week to go to the libray i will have a look for you to see if i can find anything if know one on the boards can help.

Have you got her on any of the census and did she have any children.
I will check back on your thread and try and find anything in the libary for you i am still a novice at this myself but i will do what i can.

Re: Mary ann jelf

HI Alberta;
i very much appreciate this extra bit of listing you have given me its one part i do not have and i would be extremely grateful
if you could come up with this lady in the jelfs as far as we know there was only one sister and that was the jelf brothers sister
and that was miss ivy jelf and she never ever got married so it would be of great intrest to me and to jayne to discuss
next wednesday on our meeting in birmingham she will be bringing me alot of photograph the picture she said on the last thread about trying to down load a pic of all i think which she said she could not get clear was out side there jamica row shop [ coffee shop and the ajoining shop was her moms the banna ovens which was not clear but she as got a hard copy i beleive she told me she will bring them as well
in the old forum magerzine in which year it was produced i do not knowwhich jayne is trying to produce the caption when it was taken for some reason i supect it stated in there the editor stated it was the famous jelfs coffee shops and with some of there friends
and at the back in the bunch there looks like alot of a couple of men of importants when i seen the story on george jelf profile on google
and his high ranking postion he held in the country here was a guy in there whom appears in the picture in jamica row smoking a pipe and it looks like the same guy whom wrote about georges postion in the trade unons ship i think is name was a george stevenson he had a pipe on there
i may be wrong but he may have been a big noise when george and a friend was involved with the set of birmingham city bush house days
as he and a friend was highly involved along with freda cocks i do not know he full extent until i can track down the old brum magerzine and its story to read with it and how it came about but the old senior george himself was a big flyer on the circuits of justistices
when i tryed afew years back to track is paper work i was questioed to what i know about him from the high commissioner in london
as he was part of the crown services they sent me limited paper work and they said it would never come out of the valts again
so he was a big noise as you probaly knowif you tap into google you will learn almost things about him same aplies to william jelf is son raymond if you log into ray jelf oxford councillor you will see his profile ray was educated at the aston king edwards or the holte as it was called then
he wanted to follow the family trait of the society where they was all grand master of the druids ;but by the time he was of age they had closed down
the lodges he even went to the same church st lennords to get married and moved to oxford where our ancester came from and the early days of the jelfs from glocestershire which later became worcestshire and made a succesful bussiness carrerr and now is another goverment officier
my mom out of all the jelfs kids had a private education from the age of four until she was old enoughto work where upon the others never did
her mother had her in the private section as she was wealthy when my mother had her first daughter her mother put oldest sister in london to a private school for education we never knew we had a sister until she home on holiday to aston thats when we learnt of her but it was grand mother whom was paying the fees because my mother was there only child so she put mymom in one
any way alberta ; sorry for waffling on the way i do as you all know but please if you should find out about this lady please let us know
many thanks alberta ; alan
