Re: ernest jelf family cencus look up

I presumed it's ASHTED Row that you meant? Mary Telf in 1920 would be a transcribers mistake, i'm guessing....
I've no idea as to how large the property is,... Someone else may know. :)

Re: ernest jelf family cencus look up

hi albion
first of all many thanks for you coming up with this information for me and secondly i feel abit shocked to see what as come up
and thirdley i do not know where to start here it appears there is alot of mystrys going on here with my grand father what as he been up too
my mind is stariting to think things it must have been a very big property if all these people was there
whom was mary jelf i asked myself it certainly was not my grand mother as i knew her name was bertha victoria and i had leart that of resent my mother was the only child
and that she had a step brother but name i do not know also i notice the name of mary hughes proped up
to things of questions i am sayingto myself is this the mary ann hughes whom as been with the jelf brothers one by one as she was the last mary hughes whom was with my great grand father or what and is this the mary hughes whom deserted her kids from honeybourne in those days and left them for a mr jelf
as when i went to honeybourne village and met james hughes whom is a very elderly man told me his mother left then when he was alittle kid and ran away from them with a mr jelf from the vilage which is the jelfs my grand fathers family there was a load of them
and there was a william sharp mentioned he lived by us when we was kids in cromwell street aston
so can you give me any idea on how to unravel this place but as you said you do not know the size of the property and may be one of our experts might know and helpon this one
my mother said she lived there when she was very young in ashed row before moving to number one new cannal street
i do know he comes from a long line of wealth and there ancesters one of sir arther jelf and high commisioners so when a few years back i appied for info from london i was told i could not any info on the subject and i had to produce info of a certyain kind before they gave me any but little info as i was told years back being from the crown
i have a list of the rest of his family in front of me my grand father was a sibbling to one of this counrty high flyers thou himself was not a really a high flyer
it was his father and great grand fatherand the two oldest sons whom played a big part in brum
i was told by a bussiness lady many years ago that when you got married and had big functions receptions you had to be sombody to have them to orgaise your wedding
so i am beginnimng to relizewghat she means when i think of his fathers
but sorry i am going of track abit i must concentrate about adshed row whom was mary jelf ana mary ann hughes are they the same person or two different people i do not know and i am intrigued to find out so i hope some one start by telling me or pic ofthis ashed row building in 1933
many thanks albion best wishes astonion

Re: ernest jelf family cencus look up

Hi albion
many thanks for your inputi was wondering if it was possible that this lady mary jelf may have been a relative to ernest
may be a sister in law of some kind i think there was a brother by the name of henry he was one of the older brothers
and he was the oldest son to george william jelf and i think there was a jelf living in tower rd aston
around the 1922 3 or 5 sop i was wondering whether or not or may be there husband was away and that it may be there wife
so i was wondetring whether or not some one may have access to this directory and spare me there valuable time on this
as some how i have to try and track down this mary jelf do you think if i could get hold of a marrige lie of bertha victoria jelf
nee hinton would disclose on it any previos marrige details because they got marrid in st martins around the 1925 i am sure
once again thank you for your personal time you have given me best wishes astonion

Re: ernest jelf family cencus look up

good morning lady linda
many thanks for giving me your valuable time and fr researcging for my quest on my grand parents property
and now to me it comfirmthat it was a a form of l#odging house for boarders in other words a bed andbreakfast estabilshment
just like when they moved further up the rd to number 1 new cannal st coffee shop was a huge property of about the same size for lorry drivers an lodgers
where there was about 15 lodgers of market traders and delivery driverscoming to brums market from across the country
and staying over night stopps before setting back home to there own part of thecountry
lady linda i cannot thank you enough for your time best wishes astonion
