I bought the WDYTYA mag to get the West Midlands Ancestors disk and now I found the disk won't work, I can't access any records, only the initial images. Downloaded ADOBE Reader and it still won't work. The reason I wanted it was I desperately want to see if John James and his wife, Sarah are in the Staffordshire and Worcestershire 1835 as I can't get back any further than 1841 for this family. I wondered if someone had the disk could they have a quick look for me please?

Re: John James

Does anyone have access to the National Burial Index? I'm trying to find the death of John James, born in Halesowen but he probably died in West Bromwich. He was 75 in 1901. I've searched the FreeBMD from 1901 to 1921 but can't find him. Can anyone please help me?

Re: John James

Thanks a lot, Suzanne, his daughter was married in Kings Norton although they all lived in West Bromwich so that could definitely be him and the ages certainly tally. Do you know if the date of birth is put on a Death Certificate?

Re: John James

Hi Harborne

Pleasure to help.

I don't think they started putting actual birth dates on death certificates till the 1960's. Think it was just age at death before that?
