Hi all
Not school related but does involve Cowper street.Im not a native Brummie,in fact I live about 15 miles away nr Halesowen.A few years ago I found an old bottle Inscribed James Holt and son,Cowper street,Birmingham. It stands around 6 inches high with a wide neck.I have searched the net with no joy,If anyone can throw some light on who they were and what it contained, maybe it was a brewery or maybe milk, would love to find out.
Thanks Ian.

James holt had several depots in 1950, at cowper st, aston cross, edwards road, erdington, and bennetts road, but by 1955 only the Bennetts road site remained. In Cowper st he occupied just no 9 in 1900 (it is not clear which is no 9) , which is one of the houses marked in red on the c1913 map. By 1951 he occupied the area in blue

Apologies. i have just corrected a date in my earlier post from 1961 to 1950. They had place in Cowper st from at least 1900 (though a slightly different site till sometime shortly after 1950, so it is a very broad timeband
